Today, our worst fears were confirmed when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

For so long, this decision was unthinkable. Roe v. Wade has been the law of the land for almost all of my life. I am angry that we have to again fight for abortion access and reproductive rights when this should be settled law.

I’ve been committed to protecting abortion rights throughout my career. I was a proud co-sponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act last year, which would enact federal protections for abortions because the right to choose should be a guarantee, no matter which state folks call home.

Make no mistake: this isn’t the end of the Republican's assault on abortion rights. It’s just the beginning. The GOP is already mobilizing to ban abortion on the federal level if they take back the majority.

The Republicans are gaining steam across the country, and every race matters in our fight to stop the assaults on our rights. This decision proves that we can’t take anything for granted.
