Aloha,
Lots of people are devastated, outraged, scared, angry, and grieving. I want to give everyone room to go through that process and not rush right into some political mobilization strategy when this is so personal. But I think others want to know -- what’s the plan?
Here are my initial thoughts:
Let’s eliminate the filibuster and codify Roe.
Let’s elect more Democratic United States Senators so we can turn this Republican-majority SCOTUS into a progressive majority.
Let’s help to win legislatures across the country in the meantime -- since this is now a question for states to decide. We need to win state houses to make things better for women and at least prevent things from getting worse.
There are lots of other ways to engage, but I wanted to reach out, personally, to say I’m thinking of you; I’m fighting for you; and this is a tough, awful, day.
But we fight on. We must.
