Dear John,

As you are probably aware, the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision was announced by the U.S. Supreme Court today – effectively overturning Roe v. Wade and eliminating the right to abortion after almost 50 years. We know this is the beginning of a state-by-state fight and that we will quickly see almost total bans on abortion across half the country.

I know this is a hard moment for many of us. The reality we are living is truly surreal and not what any of us hoped for. But opportunities often come masked as challenges – we know this. What I am relying on today is that we do not stand alone. We are many, we are strong, and we will prevail.

In solidarity,

The Ms. Foundation for Women is disgusted and outraged by the final decision of the Court on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which has now destroyed over almost fifty years of precedence set by Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. This decision is egregiously wrong and is an assault on reproductive justice, fundamental healthcare, and the bodily autonomy of women, transgender and non-binary people across the country. History will not look kindly on this decision, and now more than ever, it is time for all of us to act.

Decades of consistent attacks from a minority wishing to hold on to the white supremacy and patriarchy in which our nation was founded, has finally succeeded in stripping women of their fundamental human rights. This decision tells us that no one has the right to privacy or control of their own body, yet state governments do. We cannot stress enough that this decision threatens people’s lives and its consequences will be disastrous.
