John,

The Supreme Court’s extremist decision to overturn Roe v. Wade just became official — and it’s just as bad as anticipated. The far right has now succeeded in imposing their will on the rest of the country and reversing 50 years of precedent. This is absolutely disgraceful.

We are deeply disturbed by today’s ruling. Our rights are in grave danger. It starts with the overturning of settled law, but it doesn’t end there.

Abortion access is one of several fundamental rights currently under attack in the U.S., including our right to vote, racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and a host of other rights, that are intertwined with our right to liberty in which Roe v. Wade was grounded. The overturn of Roe v. Wade potentially threatens other landmark cases such as Brown v. Board of Education and Obergefell v. Hodges.

John, today’s decision is an unconscionable rollback of fundamental rights for all people in the U.S. We’ve been fighting for so long. We do defense well, but now is the time to get on offense. We must vote our values to protect our rights — while we still can. Will you donate today to help us do it?

Here in Pennsylvania, abortion is still legal, and our governor has promised to veto any bans. But that could all change this November: the Republican candidate for governor has already promised he will try to ban abortion with no exceptions.

We are standing with and supporting our partners in this work to protect our rights, including; Planned Parenthood-PA, Abortion Liberation Fund of PA, and Women’s Law Project.

Abortion bans are part of the intertwined systems of oppression that deny Black, Indigenous, and other people of color freedoms, and access to their rights that are rooted in anti-Black racism, white supremacy, and other forms of discrimination.

We will not stand silently while our rights are taken away by a radical, activist court. Together, we will fight for a better future, where everyone is free to make decisions about our futures and our families, whoever we are and wherever we live.

John, this is not how democracy should work. The public overwhelmingly disagrees with this cruel, extremist decision. We have to fight back and mobilize the electorate to end the far right’s stranglehold on our democracy. We must expand the electorate in Pennsylvania and get them out to vote in every election, twice a year. Will you make a contribution right now to help expand the electorate in Pennsylvania?

The New Pennsylvania Project
-------------------------------------------------------

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in under-represented communities of color and immigrant communities. We will register them to vote, provide education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize people to vote in every election.
