Today’s Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade makes it official—my kids have fewer rights than I did growing up.
This is not just an attack on Americans’ bodily autonomy but on our economic security as well. The government should not be interfering with our ability to make our own decisions for our health and our future.
When I first heard about Justice Alito’s opinion claiming it wasn’t so hard to be a single mom these days, I was cooking pasta for my sick kid. As a single parent, I can tell you that is BS.
But today is not the end of our fight. Congress has the ability to codify the right to an abortion in every state, and we’ve already passed that legislation here in the House. Electing leaders who will stand up for the rights of women all across the country is more important than ever.
I can promise you that I will always fight for the right to a safe and legal abortion, to expand access to reproductive healthcare, and stand up to Republicans who think they should control women’s lives.
