Today, the far-right, extremist Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, decimating the legal right to abortion that had been the law of the land for half a century. This cruel and unconscionable decision clears the way for abortion bans in dozens of states and will deny millions of people their fundamental right to bodily autonomy.
But this fight is not over. Abortion care is a human right and, in the face of this devastating news, we must mobilize to support those still on the front lines, providing life-saving care.
Local abortion funds across the country need immediate resources as they work to provide critical assistance like travel and lodging to people seeking an abortion, many of who may have to travel hundreds of miles to get the care they need.
Let’s make it plain: Reversing Roe v. Wade was the GOP’s plan all along. For decades, organizers, advocates, and movement leaders have sounded the alarm as anti-abortion extremists — from the state level to the Supreme Court — have worked intentionally and precisely to attack abortion rights.
Abortion will always exist, but we know that our most vulnerable communities will shoulder the brunt of this cruel decision, particularly Black and brown women and pregnant people.
We will never stop fighting to affirm what we know is true: abortion care is a human right. But right now, we must support local abortion funds that are courageously stepping into the gap and helping people access urgent, life-saving, and necessary care.
In solidarity,
