Dear John,
Onyx, an 18-month old dog, was stabbed more than 55 times in the face and neck before having his throat slit. His killer was sentenced to one year in jail, with no requirement that he undergo mental health treatment or limitations on possessing animals in the future.
Jay, a cat, was beaten, stabbed, and thrown off a balcony. County prosecutors declined to pursue criminal charges against the adults involved in Jay’s killing.
Penny, a pig, suffered on a factory farm with untreated wounds. For months, she was unable to stand or eat properly, until finally she was shot in the head.
Animals like Onyx, Jay, and Penny remind me every day why the work we do is absolutely critical. Animal cruelty has no place in our society, but we can’t keep up the fight for justice for animals without you.
It may be too late for Onyx, Jay, and Penny, but there are still millions of animals who desperately need your help. There are just a few hours left in Giving Tuesday to reach our $50,000 goal to fight cruelty. Will you please help with your gift now?
From undercover investigations that expose cruelty to fighting for the toughest laws to hold animal abusers accountable for their crimes, everything we do at the Animal Legal Defense Fund depends on your support. Animals need us every day, advocating for them and giving them a voice in courtrooms and legislatures across the country.
Please make your Giving Tuesday gift before the day is out to protect and defend animals and win justice for those who have been abused. Your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $25,000. Thank you for always fighting on the side of innocent animals.
