Onyx, an 18-month old dog, was stabbed more than 55 times in the face and neck before
having his throat slit. His killer was sentenced to one year in jail, with no
requirement that he undergo mental health treatment or limitations on possessing
animals in the future.

Jay, a cat, was beaten, stabbed, and thrown off a balcony. County prosecutors
declined to pursue criminal charges against the adults involved in Jay’s
killing.

Penny, a pig, suffered on a factory farm with untreated wounds. For months, she was
unable to stand or eat properly, until finally she was shot in the head.

Animals like Onyx, Jay, and Penny remind me every day why the work we do is
absolutely critical. Animal cruelty has no place in our society, but we can’t
keep up the fight for justice for animals without you.
