John, today the Supreme Court issued an official decision that strikes down Roe v. Wade, effectively allowing states to ban abortion. This decision does not reflect what a majority of Americans want. This decision does not prioritize the health and safety of people in our communities. And this decision is not reflective of our democracy.
At When We All Vote, we are committed to fighting with everything we have to build a country in which everyone has the right to make decisions about their body and their healthcare .
John, here’s what you need to know: The reality is that the right to access an abortion is no longer the law of the land. The right to choose is in the hands of our state’s elected officials -- many of whom are the very same leaders who have spent the past election cycle passing racist, anti-democratic voter suppression laws.
So what can we do next? We won’t sugarcoat it -- we’re gearing up for a long, grueling battle, and we need to look after ourselves and our communities every moment we can.
We have an opportunity to make our voices heard in November. Please, if you haven’t, register to vote right now so that you can vote for leaders that reflect your values. Our communities are better off when democracy works -- your participation in our electoral process is what will strengthen our democracy.
