NCOA works to extend important Medicare and Medicaid programs
NCOA is playing a leadership role in advocating to include key Medicare and Medicaid provisions in a year-end “Extenders” legislative package that is expected to be voted on by Dec. 20. First, we are urging that Congress extend and improve important Medicare funding for low-income beneficiary outreach and enrollment efforts. In addition, we are working closely with disability community and other partners to extend expiring, successful Medicaid home and community-based services programs—the Money Follows the Person (MFP) program and Spousal Impoverishment protections.

Aging Mastery Program® receives new grant from NextFifty Initiative
NextFifty Initiative has awarded NCOA a grant to establish a sustainable service delivery network with the capacity to provide the Aging Mastery Program® to older adults across Colorado. Diana McFail, acting CEO of NextFifty Initiative, said, “We see the National Council on Aging’s work in the aging space as an embodiment of our efforts to create a more positive and enlightened approach to aging."

Medicare Open Enrollment Period ends this week
This year's Medicare Open Enrollment Period ends on Dec. 7. Whether they're signing up for the first time or reviewing their health needs for the coming year, make sure older adults have all the information available about coverage, cost, convenience, and customer service so they can make the best decision possible.
