We just released our latest judicial nominee report on Andrew Brasher, nominated to the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Brasher - who was just nominated as a District Court judge last year - has a troubling record of supporting voting discrimination, opposing reproductive rights and LGBTQ rights, endangering the environment, and challenging gun safety measures. As we head into an election year, equal access to voting is crucial, and Brasher sitting on the federal bench threatens that access. As AFJ President Nan Aron stated, “Throughout Brasher’s career, he advocated for racist gerrymandering and defended laws that disproportionately disenfranchise voters of color, including voter ID, proof of citizenship, and a ban on felons voting. He even supported gutting the Voting Rights Act. Trump has repeatedly shown a willingness to accept an unfair advantage in the election, and Brasher’s nomination is the latest example.” Read our full statement here.
