Our worst fears have come to pass.

John,

I’m sure you’ve heard the news – the United States Supreme Court has ruled on Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Our worst fears have come to pass: they have found Roe v. Wade unconstitutional.

Numerous states across the country have trigger laws on the books that will immediately ban abortion or have never repealed their own abortion bans. Still more states have language in the state constitution that does not protect the right to an abortion. With a pen swoop, the Supreme Court has chosen politics over precedent, dismantling the right to choose and setting the stage to ensure the right to privacy and bodily autonomy are next.

I cannot overstate the importance of this moment – for those who may seek an abortion, for LGBTQ people, and especially for trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. It’s a harsh, but true reality. The highest Court in the land is determined to dictate social policy and strip equality from the books. We can no longer count on them to protect our hard-won rights.

Right now, LGBTQ elected officials and allies are working to establish refuge states for trans kids, their families, those seeking reproductive or gender-affirming healthcare and enshrining pro-choice laws at the state level. These LGBTQ leaders are more essential than ever.

Victory Institute trains and supports the LGBTQ leaders on the front lines of these fights. If you can support our work with a donation here, we appreciate it. And if you’d like to support the National Network of Abortion Funds, you can do so here.

Thank you for standing with us,
