Join us tonight for a protest in defense of abortion rights. Please RSVP below for details -- we'll send email updates on DSA's exact location and any last-minute changes. Be sure to bring water and any other protest essentials (sunscreen, hat, portable phone charger, etc).

Free abortion, on demand, without apology is a vital issue for the working class.

Now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned, 25 states can immediately outlaw abortion entirely. While we live in California, where abortion won’t be prohibited outright, we still have a long way to go. In 2017, some 40% of California counties had no clinics that provided abortions.

On top of that, an abortion can cost up to $1,000 out of pocket. A recent study revealed that 56% of Americans can’t cover a $1,000 emergency expense.

We don’t just want “legal” abortion.

We want universal healthcare.

We want universal childcare.

We won’t achieve this by following the same path that well-funded nonprofits have chosen over the last 50 years as the right wing has chipped away at our right to an abortion.

RSVP for our strategy session on Thursday to discuss how the women’s liberation movement of the 1960’s won abortion rights, and what that means for today’s organizers.

We need a mass movement to secure our radical demands. We must take our anger and outrage on the streets and fuel an organized and powerful mass movement with the power to win the right to abortion and full reproductive justice.

One more thing:

Just a brief personal note. We are all rightly angry, upset, despairing, and so much more. I would like to ask that we try to remember to treat our fellow comrades with patience and respect as we're all processing and trying to exist in this inhumane capitalist hell world. We're doing our best with what we've got. Thank you all so much for the work you do and the energy you all bring to this organization. Solidarity forever!
