Friend,
The Supreme Court has officially released their decision overturning Roe v. Wade. I am devastated by this decision, which will effectively eliminate safe and accessible reproductive healthcare in many places across the country.
With this decision, the future of reproductive healthcare is now left in the hands of state legislatures. With a Republican majority in both the Pennsylvania House and Senate, reproductive rights in Pennsylvania are more at risk than ever before. Harrisburg Republicans have already made it clear that they want to make it virtually impossible to get a safe and legal abortion in Pennsylvania.
So many of us are scared and angry right now as we face these next steps. I hope it brings you some small comfort to know that, as a state senator, I will always fight for every Pennsylvanian's right to make their own healthcare decisions. I trust individuals to make the best decisions about their lives, families and their healthcare. This fight is about our right to privacy and our right to bodily autonomy.
It is critical now more than ever that we not only keep all of the Democratic seats that we currently hold, but that we also expand the number of Democrats in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. We also need to work to keep a Democratic governor who will veto harmful legislation that will restrict healthcare access.
As a state senator, I promise to always stand up for Pennsylvanians’ right to safe and accessible healthcare. If you stand with me in supporting reproductive rights, please consider making a donation to protect my seat in the Pennsylvania Senate.
In solidarity,
Lindsey Williams
