JOHN, today’s decision by an ideologically-driven Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and dismantle the constitutional right to abortion is appalling and infuriating.
This decision will impact millions of Americans and allow 13 “trigger states” to immediately ban abortion and undermine reproductive freedom. And if Republicans are successful in taking control of the House and Senate this November, we can anticipate efforts to restrict abortion nationwide.
We can’t let this attack on fundamental rights – the right for private medical decisions to be made between a person and their doctor – go unanswered. We have to act now by electing leaders who will vote to codify Roe into federal law. Can I count on your support today?
While leaders and activists here in New York and across the country have been fighting against the anti-choice movement for years, Nicole Malliotakis has mocked their concerns – labeling efforts to protect abortion rights “barbaric.”
We simply cannot afford leaders who are willing to undermine basic freedoms in order to maintain their power. It is a slippery slope from restricting abortion to attacking other vital healthcare options and women’s rights – Republicans have openly discussed banning certain types of birth control and restricting access to fertility treatments.
Look, we have a tough fight ahead, but with this much at stake, we simply can’t afford to back down now.
