Dear Friend,
Alexandria, VA — CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp released the following statement following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson:
"Today’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey is a truly historic victory in our decades-long fight to defend the dignity and worth of every human life. We believe the issue of abortion has rightfully been returned to the people.
President Trump selected Justices who were willing, amidst intimidation and assassination attempts, to simply do what was constitutionally correct. It is a tribute to the former President and to the character of these Justices, as well as the stalwart Justices, who joined them in this historic and joyous moment in our history.
America just came off the heels of celebrating another historically significant event - the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by our first Republican President Abraham Lincoln. These moments are rare in our history and it’s now critically important for the health of our Republic for states to consider how to handle the responsibility that has been passed off to them.
With today's ruling, our work is not yet finished. CPAC will now focus on the states, where we will continue championing human dignity and the precious gift of Life."
