We knew this was coming. Earlier today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — declaring that women in this country are NOT guaranteed the freedom to make their own decisions about abortion.

The Supreme Court, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans, and radical Republican state legislators across the country believe that they themselves should have that power – that they know better than American women.

How dare they? How dare they take away our fundamental rights?

The impact on millions of people across the country cannot be overstated. Twenty-six states are certain or likely to ban abortion. And already, Republican state legislatures are brazenly moving forward with new laws that go way beyond just stripping rights away — they punish and criminalize women making personal healthcare decisions.

If you don’t control your reproductive life, you can’t make informed decisions about anything in your life. Not your job, your education, or your family.

I’m furious. But I’m not surprised — this was a deliberate and vicious campaign waged by dark money groups and Republicans to turn the Supreme Court into a hyper-political, conservative majority.

It boils down to this. We now live in the post- Roe world that Republicans want.

Roe v. Wade is gone. The Supreme Court has abandoned the right to an abortion. They are taking away the most American of values — freedom, autonomy, and self determination.

Now, we must stay strong together, we must organize, and I’ll be right there on the front lines with you.

With Roe gone, the most important thing we can do right now is to protect and expand our Senate majority. If we organize, work hard, and stop Mitch McConnell from flipping the Senate, we will have a chance to expand the Supreme Court, abolish the filibuster, and codify the right to an abortion into federal law.
