Today the Supreme Court confirmed what we feared was coming: a decision that ends every woman’s constitutional right to choose. With this one decision, the court is erasing 50 years of protecting that fundamental right.
This decision will drive state-by-state action on laws governing reproductive health. The result will be disastrous, for women and their families.Those who will suffer the most will be those who have the least. Our reproductive rights will be determined by geography – where we live – and not constitutional protection.
The government has no business controlling women's health care decisions.
It is now up to the Congress to protect women's reproductive health. I will fight in Congress to protect the rights of every woman in every state. I will work tirelessly to make sure everyone has access to affordable health care, including safe abortion.
