Folks,
Today is the day we’ve been dreading ever since a draft opinion was leaked last month: The Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that enshrined women’s rights to make their own healthcare decisions nearly 50 years ago.
By reversing this decision, the Court is interfering in private medical decisions that should be between a woman and her doctor — not the federal government. Reproductive care is healthcare, and should be accessible to all.
Now that the Court has revoked reproductive freedom in this country, millions of women will be impacted and lose this fundamental right that stood for decades.
It’s hard to overstate how devastating the consequences of this decision will be for women all across this country. That’s why I’m recommitting myself to protect a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions now and always.
I’m angry. I’m disappointed. Not only with the Supreme Court, or the conservative activists who campaigned for this for decades, but on behalf of the tens of millions of vulnerable women who will now be put at risk.
I want to live in a country that supports and protects women making very personal health care decisions — instead of putting women and their doctors in jail for exercising a long-held right. And I promise I will keep fighting every day to ensure that is the kind of country we are working to become.
I know that so many folks will be outraged about this decision. I want you to know that I hear you, I see you, and I appreciate your efforts. This fight isn’t over and I hope you’ll bring your energy into this next stage.
Right now, my focus is on protecting and expanding our Senate majority. The last time the Women’s Health Protection Act came to a vote, we simply didn’t have the votes — but if we organize, and work hard, and pick up a few more seats this November, we might have a chance to change that.
If you’re still with me in this fight, please pitch in any amount right now to help us elect a pro-choice Senate majority, and make progress in the fight to enshrine reproductive rights into law. [[link removed]]

Today’s decision is a massive blow for our country’s progress, but now we need to get up, dust ourselves off, and keep fighting.
