We knew this day was coming. The Supreme Court has finally issued its majority opinion overturning Roe v. Wade. This ruling will be a healthcare disaster for our state and our country.

Sadly, Iowa is one of many states that no longer protects the right to reproductive freedom. Just last week, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that reproductive rights are not protected under the state’s Constitution. 

With the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, the floodgates are now open for Iowa Republicans to ban abortion in our state. They’ve already been working toward this goal for years, John.

We can bury our heads in the sand or we can fight back at the ballot box in November. Iowa’s government is currently controlled by Republicans. They control the governorship, the State House and the State Senate. Chip in $7 and help us take back the Iowa House from anti-choice Republicans.

You can bet the farm that if I’m elected to the Iowa State House, I will fight to protect and defend Iowans’ reproductive freedom. These are deeply private and personal healthcare decisions that should be made between women and their doctors. Not by politicians. 

I know that today’s ruling is a gut punch for so many Iowans. People are rightfully afraid of what this will mean for them. We must be kind and supportive to each other as we navigate these difficult times. And we must come together and fight back.
