We knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make it any less jarring.
Because of the Supreme Court’s decision today, whether or not a person has control over their own reproductive future is a matter of state law.
Now, if you live in Ohio, the Ohio state legislature gets to decide for you.
That means it is even more important to elect people to our state legislature (and the Governor’s mansion) that believe you have the right to decide what happens to your body.
Historically, people from both parties have supported that right (and polling tells us that is still true for voters). But currently only Democratic lawmakers are protecting it.
That means we need to run and support Democratic candidates in every corner of Ohio.
People should know who is fighting for their right to make the most personal of personal decisions (hint: it’s the Democrats).
And who believes the government – not you and your family – controls decisions about your body (hint: it’s the Republicans).
Our Blue Ohio community makes sure that every Democratic nominee in Ohio has the resources they need to fight against Republican extremism and for the people of Ohio.
If you don’t believe your state representative should have more decision making authority over your reproductive future than you do, it’s time to act.
We make it easy to do just that. We’re
Blue Ohio – a community of people like you who are sick to death of Republican lawmakers forcing their extremist, power-hungry policies on the rest of us.
We kick in a little bit every month – 100% of which goes to Democratic nominees for state legislature – knowing that we’re growing the long-term strategy to hold Republicans accountable and make for a Blue Ohio.
And, if you’re a member at $10/month, you’re automatically invited to join our monthly Blue Ohio brown bag (virtual) lunches, where we talk politics, amplify candidates, and learn how we can support one another’s work.
Today’s Supreme Court decision is a dark day for our country.
But we can stifle its impact on our state, depending upon what we do now and going forward.
Join us.
In solidarity.
