The Supreme Court just made official what we feared was coming: after 50 years of protection and settled law, women no longer have a guaranteed right to abortion care in our country.
As much as we may have been prepared to expect this, it doesn’t take away the collective anger we feel today.
26 states have laws in place that will immediately make it illegal for women to have an abortion. More are sure to follow suit. Extremist, MAGA Republicans in Congress are already drafting legislation for a federal ban on abortions.
Our opponent and six-term Congressman Andy Harris is unapologetically anti-abortion, even in cases of rape, incest, or where the woman's life is in danger. Harris is part of an extremist group of far-right members of Congress who have set their sights on an all-out ban on abortion, even though it’s wildly out of step with what Americans actually want. We need to make sure they don’t serve another day in Congress.
Heather has always fought for a woman’s right to choose. She is proudly pro-choice and has called on the Senate to change the filibuster rules in order to codify abortion access into law.
Women’s health care is more at risk than it has been in our lifetimes and it’s crucial that we vote out those in government who refuse to fight for reproductive freedoms. If we don’t, who knows what they’ll come after next.
