Eric Sorensen, meteorologist and Democrat running for Congress in IL-17 here. With Election Day just days away, I went out and voted! Here in Illinois, we have the good fortune (and Democratic leadership) to have expansive access to the polls - early voting, vote by mail, and on Election Day of course. For me, early voting was the best way I could make my voice heard AND keep up with knocking on as many doors as possible before June 28th.

This year, picking up my ballot and entering that voting booth was different. Because this year, for the first time, I had the honor of seeing my name on the ballot, and an opportunity to vote for myself for public office.

This is not a task that I take lightly. Since we launched in November, I’ve had countless conversations with first-time voters, long time activists, and people just trying to make ends meet. Voting is the loudest way our community gets to shout their voice - then it is my job to take their voice with me to Congress.
