When a longstanding, dedicated, and effective organization endorses our campaign, it's hard not to go to work with a bounce in my step.
Today, I'm thrilled to announce that I've been endorsed by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund and that I am the only candidate in Oregon's Fourth Congressional District to receive this honor. And in the coming years, I will keep fighting for a person's right to make decisions about their own body.
Now, it's more critical than ever that we stand strong. While Democrats across the nation are working hard to protect reproductive freedom, anti-choice extremists continue to push their illegal policies. This year, we saw an unprecedented number of states introduce dangerous legislation restricting access to a women's reproductive health care. With Kavanaugh confirmed, they're hoping to take it all the way to the Supreme Court - where they hope to overturn Roe v. Wade.
These strategies only make it more difficult for low-income individuals to access birth control, cancer screenings, STD testing and treatments, and other critical health care services.
In Congress, I've always voted to expand access to affordable reproductive health care. I've strongly opposed arbitrary abortion restrictions. And I've stood with Planned Parenthood in the face of deceptive attacks. And I always will.
"Protect safe, legal abortion"
In 2018, I put my efforts behind electing progressive candidates who share our critical values of protecting reproductive health care. In 2020, our movement has the potential to make even more substantive change. Together we will work even harder until reproductive healthcare is affordable and accessible to everyone!
This battle is far from over. I'm proud to have you by my side as we fight on.
Onward,
Peter
