Dear Friend,

One of the most important parts of my job is helping you with any issues that you may have with federal agencies – like navigating Medicare, securing your veterans benefits, expediting the passport process, and helping with federal student loans or small business loans. My office is here to help navigate federal agencies and help you cut through red tape.

Meeting with Tommy and his wife, Sheila, from Garland after my office helped expedite the approval process from the Department of Labor so he could get back surgery for a work-related injury.

If you need assistance with any federal agency, please give us a call at (972) 972-7949 or visit our website Allred.House.gov.

In addition to helping you navigate federal agencies, I spend a great deal of time in North Texas talking to folks just like you. In the 11 months I’ve been in office we’ve held town halls and roundtable discussions on issues like lowering the cost of prescription drugs, improving care for our veterans, and fixing our transportation and infrastructure. I’ve also spent time with students and small business owners across the district to talk about the importance of workforce development and building an economy that works for everyone.

Finally, here is an update on the legislation I’m fighting for in Washington. One of my first acts was a bipartisan effort that authorized the House to intervene as a party in the Texas lawsuit seeking to strip protections for pre-existing conditions by repealing the Affordable Care Act. North Texans have continually voiced their concerns about the rising cost of health care. That’s why I am leading this bipartisan charge to lower costs across the board, and ensure this Congress is on the side of the people, and protecting your health care from attacks in federal court.

Serving as a member on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, the need for increased access to health care for North Texas Veterans has been clear. That’s why I worked across the aisle with my Republican colleagues to encourage the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to transform the former Baylor, Scott and White hospital in Garland to a new VA facility. We are making incredible progress on this endeavor.

Listening to a local veteran about his experience with the VA to learn how I can help at the federal level.

Our government should work for North Texans, not special interests. I helped introduce the For The People Act, which is the single biggest anti-corruption bill in a generation. The bill also strengthens voting rights and ensures every citizen has access to the ballot box.

In order to deliver real results for you and your family, we must work across the aisle to get things done. That’s why more than 75 percent of all the bills that I have sponsored in Congress have received both Democratic and Republican support.

Legislation like:

  • The Insulin Price Reduction Act, which significantly lowers insulin costs.
  • The Paycheck Fairness Act, which ensures everyone receives equal pay for equal work.
  • The Equality Act, which ensures LGBTQ people are protected under civil rights laws.

From leading the fight to pass legislation that will lower prescription drug costs to standing up to party leadership to stop a Congressional pay raise, my focus is always on doing what’s right for North Texas families and advocating for our shared North Texas values.

I look forward to another productive year and hope to see you around North Texas soon.

Sincerely,
