John,
This is huge.
The Senate just passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act – the most comprehensive set of gun violence prevention policies in 30 years. This a consequential step toward change that so many survivors and activists have worked toward for so long.
Now, the bill goes onto the House and we need to ensure they follow suit. Can you send an urgent message to your representatives and urge them to pass this lifesaving legislation?
I am overwhelmed, John. I remember sitting in the Senate gallery in 2013, watching our lawmakers fail to pass an assault weapons ban after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School and feeling the devastation in the room, but now we can finally celebrate the first step in the passage of gun violence prevention legislation that will save lives.
