Gaetz' Pardon Plea DENIED; NEW Endorsements for Rebekah
Rebekah gained another major endorsement this week when Florida College Democrats pledged their support for her campaign! FCD joins Florida Young Democrats, Progressive Democrats of America (Florida), Progressives for Democracy in Florida, climatologist and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Michael Mann, Nobel Prize nominee and Vietnam whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg, as well as other leaders from around the state and nation in supporting Rebekah's historic run for Congress in Florida's 1st Congressional District. But of course the bigger news came earlier today when the January 6 committee revealed that Rebekah's opponent, GOP incumbent Matt Gaetz, repeatedly asked Trump for a blanket pardon, asked other people to ask on his behalf, and was still ultimately denied. Gaetz' involvement in planning and aiding the riots on the capitol continues to come to light, and Gaetz has now been caught lying about his request to be pardoned for not only the January 6 insurrection, but for a laundry list of other crimes, as well. "Why did it take a congressional investigation into the January 6 attack to get this information?" Rebekah told press earlier today. "When it comes to transparency and calling out lying, misleading or deceiving the public in any way, I'm the candidate who exemplifies those principles of truth and justice, as I've been doing for the state of Florida for the last two years," she continued. Rebekah maintains her status of being a legally-protected whistleblower for exposing data malfeasance during COVID-19 at the Florida Department of Health. She became an international symbol in the fight for science advocacy and government transparency, winning Forbes' first-ever Technology Person of the Year for her efforts to independently track the virus and for her partnership to track cases in schools with Google. She was also nominated for the John Maddox Prize last fall, which is an international award for science advocates who took on corruption in the face of great adversity, harassment, threats and even imprisonment. Rebekah's whistleblower complaint was filed with the Florida Commission on Human Relations in July 2020 and the agency has yet to issue a report or any rulings. Earlier this year, a separate investigation by the DOH Inspector General's office found Jones told the truth about being asked to hide and delete data, but that no policies were broken in doing so. Two weeks later, an internal audit of COVID-19 data revealed the state under-reported deaths in the first six months of the pandemic by more than 3,000 people. When news of Matt Gaetz' lies regarding his many pardon requests and the extent of his role in the January 6 turned out to be more involved than previously thought, Rebekah took to social media to remind voters what's at stake: "This isn't a game. We're talking about the constitutional duty of our elected officials to honor the outcome of elections. If they're incapable of even that, they don't deserve to be there. We can't keep fighting each other like rival gangs so long as this existential threat to freedom and democracy exists in America. We stand together or we fall apart."
