Earlier today, the Supreme Court voted to overturn a nearly 100-year-old law in New York State requiring people have "proper cause" to obtain a concealed carry permit to carry a firearm in public places outside of their homes.
A conservative court that just LOVES state’s rights when it comes to issues like abortion, decided today to infringe upon the rights of states to protect our citizens from being gunned down in our streets, schools and churches.
Who the hell thinks this is a good idea?
People don’t want this.
People don’t want anyone to just be able to walk into a gun show or buy a firearm online and just carry it around, for any reason, and wherever they want, including very public places.
The only people who want this are the NRA and the far-right who have been pushing a radical vision for America where everyone is carrying guns everywhere and everyone is armed to the teeth at all times.
Today that crowd found an ally in the Supreme Court.
And now, the data clearly shows, there will be more violent crime and more needless death as a result.
It’s a dark day in America.
Well, you can be certain that in California we aren’t simply going to roll over.
We are going to take action on guns. We are going to do what we can to protect our people from gun violence, and we are going to defeat those who try to stop us in the legislature and at the polls.
