Friend,
Thank you.
Because of your work, and our collective work to make our communities safer, the Senate just passed historic legislation to help end gun violence. And this is because of you.
This historic bill dedicates $250 million in funding for community-based violence prevention initiatives! Yes, the same CVI work we have all been fighting for - some of us for decades - to strengthen critical work on the ground to support those most impacted by violence in our cities and states.
For the past six years, Community Justice has worked towards this and other landmark moments across the country by amplifying the need for evidence-informed, community-based violence intervention programs that have been proven to reduce gun violence in the most vulnerable communities, using a holistic public health approach.
We could not have done this without you, and there is still much more work to do - together.

A month after children, teachers, and community members were killed in Uvalde and Buffalo, part of this legislation will uphold the most critical goal of our mission– to save lives . The Senate passage is a first step to provide our people and communities with measures to stop firearm misuse and everyday gun violence at its core.
While this legislation is not perfect and there is still much more work to do to make sure its passes the House, I am proud to stand with Senator Murphy, Senator Schumer, Senator Booker and others in support of the policy solutions we need to better protect our children and families from gun violence, and look forward to swift passage of this life-saving legislation.
While we anticipate the bill’s passage in the House, as soon as later this week, we need you to continue to take action. Check out our action center to get involved.
TAKE ACTION NOW [[link removed]]
Sincerely,
Greg Jackson,
Executive Director
