Both of my GOP opponents oppose common-sense gun safety reform.

After a recent spate of senseless mass shootings in our country, the American people are once again demanding action to protect our communities from gun violence.

For far too long, the gun lobby has used its influence to obstruct common-sense gun safety legislation, despite support from a majority of Americans and gun owners. Americans reasonably live in fear of being shot in class, at church, or at the grocery store.

Coloradans know this feeling all too well. From Columbine to Aurora to Boulder, my daughters’ generation has grown up in the shadow of gun violence — something my generation never had to do.

We cannot allow this to continue.

That’s why I voted to advance the bipartisan gun safety package that would strengthen background checks for young gun purchasers, close the “boyfriend loophole,” invest in mental health, and improve school safety.

The National GOP has raised over $100 million to flip seats like mine. I won my last midterm race by just 1.7%, and I don’t accept a dime from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists, so I’m asking:

This legislation is a critical first step to addressing gun violence. But both of my GOP opponents have come out against gun safety measures that would help keep Colorado communities safe.

Please chip in $10 — or any amount — to help me defend my seat from GOP opponents who won’t stand up to the gun lobby.
