When your gas bill starts looking like your grocery bill, and your grocery bill starts looking like your Costco bill, and your Costco bill starts looking like your monthly rent or mortgage payment, then the situation is out of control.
A few months ago I mentioned my family’s financial security as one of my many worries. With the cost of living continuing to soar, it’s now become my top worry. And I know I’m not alone.
All across the nation, people are feeling the squeeze. What we thought would be THE post-pandemic summer, is sadly, turning out to be the opposite for many.
But we can do something about it.
With the Midterm Election only a few months away, we have the power to 1) pressure our current representatives to do something about the financial squeeze, 2) help to elect someone who understands the everyday struggles we’re facing, and 3) support local organizations working on building political power for our communities.
As Andy mentioned in his last email, many of the organizations we collaborate with and ally with are fighting for people like you and me. All across the nation they’re fighting to make good trouble; for economic equity, for reclaiming the rights to our own bodies, for democracy, and for impactful progressive candidates. We simply ask that you continue to believe in a brighter future, despite the mounting bills, bills, bills.
Stick around, and let's make good trouble together.
Best,
Edil Mari De Los Reyes, Political Director
