Last week, Democrats held their very first Oversight and Reform Economic and Consumer Policy Subcommittee hearing of the year to examine Seresto flea and tick collars. Apparently, the 40-year high inflation burdening you and your family didn’t quite make the cut – unreal! 

During the hearing, I blasted Democrats’ dog and pony show as nothing more than a desperate distraction from the real economic issues plaguing our great nation. Additionally, I urged my Democrat colleagues to hold legitimate hearings that offer answers and solutions to the millions of American workers and families struggling due to President Biden’s failed economic agenda. Under President Biden and Secretary of Defense Austin’s leadership, the Department of Defense (DOD) has alarmingly demonstrated a willingness to engage with and prioritize liberal policies. While the DOD’s nonsense isn’t limited to “Pride Month,” recent actions and social media posts promoting the Left’s LGBTQ agenda are too troubling to ignore. Undoubtedly, our military should be centrally focused on its core mission of safeguarding our nation – not wasting taxpayer dollars on advancing progressive’s woke agenda. 

In response, I joined a dozen of my Republican colleagues, led by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), in demanding Secretary Austin to rightfully redirect the Department of Defense’s focus to ensuring our military is ready and able to defend our country. Additionally, we requested a financial breakdown outlining how much each branch within the Department will spend on Pride Month related activities this year. As adversaries around the globe grow more aggressive, it is essential that our military – and our nation – are concentrated on protecting and preserving our precious freedoms. 

Since the draft Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health U.S. Supreme Court opinion was troublingly leaked last month, pro-life advocates and organizations have faced increased threats and acts of violence. From North Carolina and Virginia to Oregon and Washington, domestic terrorists have targeted over a dozen pro-life crisis pregnancy centers across the nation. These attacks range from threatening vandalism to dangerous firebombing – directly taking aim at staff dedicated to assisting pregnant women and protecting the sanctity of life. 

Despite the Department of Justice (DOJ) claiming domestic terrorism is a key priority and subsequently establishing a new domestic terrorism unit, Attorney General Merick Garland has failed to act on any of the violent unrest that has spread across the country in anticipation of Roe v. Wade being overturned. The Biden Administration’s political passiveness is completely unacceptable, which is why I joined over 120 of my Republican colleagues, led by Reps. Scott Franklin (R-FL), Claudia Tenney (R-NY), and Mike Johnson (R-LA), in demanding the Department of Justice swiftly investigate this domestic terrorism and to prosecute all perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law. As an unapologetic defender of the unborn, I’m proud to join my colleagues in this effort, and I commend pro-life organizations for continuing to defend life in the face of radical, reckless, and reprehensible domestic terrorists.

I’ve long feared that this taxation will be weaponized to price the enumerated right to keep and bear arms out of the reach of average Americans. As attacks on our Second Amendment freedoms emerge and escalate, I strongly believe it is imperative that we act quickly to prevent the Left’s tyrannical threats from infringing on our precious liberties. Rest assured, I remain resolute in this fight. In fact, I’m excited to announce that this week I formally introduced my legislation, the RETURN (Repealing Excise Tax on Unalienable Rights Now) our Constitutional Rights Act with over 50 Republican co-sponsors, in order to protect and preserve our Second Amendment rights.
