John, for me, this bill is personal. I know what it's like to experience financial hardship. I know what it's like to see your hardworking family members lose everything due to no fault of their own. And I am committed to increasing financial stability for all hardworking people in our great state.
That's why my office proposed the Delaware EARNS plan, which will allow small business owners and workers across the state to access low cost, state-secured retirement savings plans. I believe that everyone deserves to retire and age with dignity. This plan is a huge step towards that, especially for middle and low income workers and families who don't have access to employer-sponsored retirement plans.
As a lifelong Delawarean, I am committed to providing the people of our state with financial security, and I am so grateful for the General Assembly's support for our proposed legislation. But I know we're only just scratching the surface of our potential to support Delaware's workers–and I'm running for reelection to see that potential through.
