Check out these family-friendly fishing lakes
Looking for a place to go fishing with the family? Nebraska Game and Parks has identified dozens of public fishing waters across the state that are perfect for families ? known as Family Friendly Lakes.
Safe, comfortable, and with great fishing potential, these spots make for a relaxing summer's day outdoors. Here are six across the state to check out; for a full list, see the 2022 Fishing Guide, which designates Family Friendly Lakes in its list of public fishing areas.

Lake Mac fully booked on Fourth of July weekend
Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala state recreation areas are fully booked from July 1-5 for overnight campgrounds, including beach campsites. However, the area is still open for day use, and visitors may be able to find alternative lodging in the area at?ILoveLakeMac.com.

Commissioners approve mountain lion season for 2023
Nebraska Game and Parks approved staff recommendations for 2023 mountain lion season at its June 17 meeting in Lexington. Commissioners approved a mountain lion season in the Pine Ridge similar to 2022, with a maximum harvest of four cats, with a sublimit of two females.
