The Texas Republican Party held a convention last weekend, where thousands of delegates voted on the party’s legislative priorities when Texas lawmakers reconvene in 2023.

Outlined in a 40-page document, one of the priorities included a section where delegates urged state lawmakers to hold a referendum "for the people of Texas to determine whether or not the State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation."

President Joe Biden on Wednesday called on Congress to enact a three-month gas tax “holiday” in which the roughly 18 cents per gallon federal gas tax imposed on producers would be waived.
