Not only is it important to celebrate and honor our fellow folks on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, but unfortunately we know that our health is disproportionately impacted by environmental hazards. LGBTQ+ folks face air pollution at rates 23.8% higher than cisgender/heterosexual people. Additionally, LGBTQ+ people face higher rates of unemployment and homelessness, which means they are more likely to be exposed to extreme weather events like cold winters and heatwaves. We know that fighting for a pro-environment Pennsylvania for ALL of us means we build an intersectional movement to ensure we’re lifting up and addressing those that face the burden of environmental injustices. This Pride Month, we hope you’ll take time to reflect on these intersections and join us for our IG Live conversation with State Rep Malcolm Kenyatta TODAY at 5:30pm.
