We know it is coming. Any day now, a conservative Supreme Court majority — with four appointees made by presidents who did not win the national popular vote — will strike down Roe and immediately allow states to strip women of their right to an abortion.

More than two dozen states already have drastic restrictions or bans on the books which will immediately take effect as soon as the Dobbs decision is announced. Here in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republican-led legislature could outlaw abortion outright after recently passing a 15-week ban. This makes action on the part of Congress to codify Roe into law paramount to the protection of abortion rights here in Florida and across our nation.
