Just this year, there have been over 20,000 deaths caused by gun violence in America.

Now, because of the schemes from far-right Republicans and gun lobbyists, the Supreme Court was able to overturn a long-held gun safety law in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, greatly weakening the requirements on who and where someone can carry a gun.

This means that in New York, and possibly across the country, “concealed carry” laws will be relaxed, resulting in many more people having the ability to carry handguns on them, as accessing a concealed carry license will be much easier.

But it’s crucial to remember this: The Supreme Court’s decision on New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen does not end our fight for gun safety.

We have the chance to help protect Americans across the country, but only if Congress goes further on gun safety legislation.
