We just learned that House GOP Leaders McCarthy and Scalise will vote NO on the Senate’s bipartisan gun safety plan.
This is completely irresponsible.
The Senate finally passed a bipartisan, filibuster-proof reform package, and House Republican Leadership has the gall to stand in the way? In the wake of what happened at Uvalde and Buffalo, this is absolutely unacceptable.
One thing is clear: the leaders of the GOP don’t care about your children’s safety. They don’t care about any of us feeling safe when we visit a school, a movie theater, a concert, a church – or any of the places where Americans have been massacred by gunmen who never should have been allowed to purchase a gun.
My Democratic colleagues and I know that a majority of Americans want to see gun safety reforms put in place as soon as possible. Are we right? What do you think about the GOP leadership’s behavior here?
