John,
In a moment, I'm going to ask you to contribute to my campaign before next week's crucial FEC end-of-quarter deadline, but first, I wanted to take a moment to explain why it's crucial we hold this seat in November.
I've spent my entire career sticking up for working people, but I'm not a career politician. Before coming to Congress, I worked as a trial attorney fighting for working folks in Scranton. But in 2012, I knew I could do more good serving the hardworking people of Northeastern Pennsylvania in Congress.
Thanks to incredible supporters like you, I won that election and have spent the last nine years in Congress working to get things done for Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Throughout my time in the House, I've introduced more legislation cosponsored by both Democrats and Republicans than any other House Democrat – including dozens of pieces of legislation aimed at helping seniors, military families, veterans, students, workers, consumers, the middle class, and the environment. That's why the Center for Effective Lawmaking named me one of the most effective members of the U.S. House.
I'm proud of the work I've done for Northeastern Pennsylvanians, but I know there's much more that needs to be accomplished. People are facing hard times, and we need leaders to put people first, not the special interests or the well-connected. That's why I'm running for re-election, and I'm in for my most hotly contested campaign yet.
Our district was only one of seven in the country that voted for Donald Trump in 2020 while electing a Democrat. Election experts agree that in November, our race is a "toss-up." National Republicans have already begun pouring millions of dollars into PA-08 to attack me and prop up my far-right opponent – and we know more is on the way.
All of the progress we've worked so hard to accomplish is on the line this November. I'm ready to keep fighting for working people – but we can't do it without your help.
Will you rush a donation to my campaign before my FEC end-of-quarter fundraising deadline to help keep me in Congress fighting for Northeastern Pennsylvanians?
Thank you,
Matt
