In June 2021, the day after I launched my campaign, Fox News published a fear mongering attack article. When I launched my campaign, I expected to be attacked by the radical right wing media. I expected fear mongering on the fringes of the internet. I was ready for that.
John , never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect my 25 year Democratic Congressman to send an email blast, attacking me by name, and using this very same Fox news article as a source. Yesterday, that is exactly what he did.
I will be honest. I am horrified that my opponent is so desperate to cling to power that he is joining forces with the most extreme wing of the Republican Party. This is not the leader I remember from my childhood, it is time for new representation in IL-7.

For my entire career, I have called for leaders to focus on the underlying causes of gun violence in my community. That is why every day I push for us to invest in social workers, counselors, mental health resources, and a stronger social safety net instead of mass incarceration, police militarization, and over-policing. This is a strategy that is widely supported by gun violence prevention advocates everywhere, and part of the reason I was invited to serve on President Biden’s gun violence prevention task force.
My opponent, Rep. Danny Davis may think that blasting out Fox news articles will save him, but the truth is, he has had over two decades to prove that he has a plan to address gun violence in our community, and nothing has changed.
It is time for new leadership in IL-7. It is time for change.
