With the holiday week approaching, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) wanted to give you a reminder to submit your abstract by July 1 to participate as a presenter at the 2022 Great Lakes PFAS Summit?taking place? December 5-7 as a virtual event.?
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) continue to present some of the biggest challenges in chemical contamination across the world. States throughout the?nation, including the Great Lakes region, are finding PFAS contamination in a growing number of locations where these persistent chemicals pose a threat to human health and the environment.?The Great Lakes PFAS Summit will bring together environmental program managers, policy experts, researchers, and contractors from around the Great Lakes region to share new methods of addressing this contamination and present innovative technical solutions developed to address these ?forever? chemicals.? ?
Participants may include local, state, and federal?government officials; environmental consultants and vendors; academic researchers?and students; industry managing PFAS contamination; and community?organizations.
EGLE will be selecting roughly 24 abstracts among the submissions and will notify presenters in August 2022. Additionally, abstracts will also be considered for EGLE?s Remediation & Risk Management webinar series.? All primary presenters will receive a complimentary Summit registration.
Conference sessions will include the topic areas shown below. Please review the topics to consider the category where your presentation would best fit. Authors may suggest additional topics that are not on the list, but they must fit a general topic area related to PFAS.

Environmental Behavior:?Example topics include fate and transport in various media; site investigation and sampling strategies; fingerprinting; long-term monitoring; new and current treatment technologies; remedial challenges and limitations

Human and Ecological Impacts:?Example topics include bioaccumulation; fish & wildlife; agricultural research and challenges; PFAS in food & packaging; PFAS alternatives in manufacturing and assessment of toxicology; maximum contaminant levels, cleanup criteria, & screening levels; bans & restrictions.
