CRES JOINS REPUBLICAN LEADERS TO APPLAUD TRILLION TREES — I welcomed the opportunity to join congressional Republicans and conservation leaders at a press conference yesterday on Capitol Hill in support of the "Trillion Trees Act"  ([link removed]) introduced by U.S. REPRESENTATIVE BRUCE WESTERMAN (R-AR). Among those speaking in favor of the legislation at the event were U.S. HOUSE REPUBLICAN LEADER KEVIN MCCARTHY (R-CA), U.S. SENATOR MIKE BRAUN (R-IN), and U.S. REPRESENTATIVES ROGER MARSHALL (R-KS), DAN NEWHOUSE (R-WA), PETE STAUBER (R-MN), GREG WALDEN (R-OR), DAVID JOYCE (R-OH), ROB WHITMAN (R-VA), BRIAN MAST (R-FL), TIM BURCHETT (R-TN), CLAY HIGGINS (R-LA), and BUDDY CARTER (R-GA). REPUBLICAN LEADER MCCARTHY CUTS THROUGH THE NOISE — REPUBLICAN LEADER KEVIN MCCARTHY (R-CA) primed conservatives for real solutions by writing a succinct but comprehensive blog post expressing the GOP vision on energy and environmental leadership. The post included proposals for carbon capture, clean energy, and conservation. The case has never been stronger for Republican leadership on responsible solutions that aim to reduce emissions and provide a better quality of life. CRES NABS TOP ENERGY EXPERT TO LEAD POLICY TEAM — We’re pleased to welcome LORI PICKFORD to the CRES family, who recently joined us as a senior policy advisor where she will spearhead our outreach on key energy and climate initiatives on Capitol Hill and within the administration. * The U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources will soon release a package of mostly bipartisan energy bills, including several bills CRES has previously advocated for, such as the Better Energy Storage Now Act ([link removed]) , the Nuclear Energy Leadership Act ([link removed]) , and the ARPA-E Reauthorization Act ([link removed]) . At NASEO last week, staffers from the committee also discussed reauthorization of the Weatherization Assistance Program ([link removed])  and the State Energy Program
