Dear John,
We have the biggest news from the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters to date! The U.S. Forest Service has released their environmental study of sulfide-ore copper mining in the watershed of the Boundary Waters.
This is the study we’ve been waiting for.

A non-industry, unbiased compilation of all the evidence and science: water, air, sound and light pollution as well as economics, public health, public input (did you know - almost 500,000 people have spoken up since 2015 to protect the Boundary Waters?!), endangered species, climate impacts and so much more.

Everything that scientists and experts from across the country have studied points to one simple conclusion: The Boundary Waters watershed is the wrong place for toxic sulfide-ore copper mining, and the Forest Service is now recommending a 20-year ban on sulfide-ore copper mining next to the Boundary Waters.

Your note will also go to your U.S. Senators and Representative, asking them to join Rep. Betty McCollum by passing a bill in Congress to make this ban permanent. Now more than ever, all Americans need to make their voice heard. We support the Biden Administration's proposed 20 year mining ban and want Congress to pass a bill to make that ban permanent.
All generations to come deserve a protected Boundary Waters - one that supports the thriving economy and way of life for northeastern Minnesota and that countless generations of Americans can enjoy forever.
Thank you for being with us for nearly 10 years. We are so close and need your support once again. Please sign this petition letting the Administration and Congress know you support a ban of sulfide-ore copper mining next to the Boundary Waters.

For the Wilderness,
Becky Rom
