Dear Friend, Last week, it was revealed that 48 members of Congress sent a letter to the powerful Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies requesting that the federal government protect state-level legalization laws. These members wanted this provision to be included in the new Justice Department funding bill. Make no mistake: this was an industry-led blitz that would have effectively legalized marijuana at the federal level. Thankfully, SAM's legislative affairs team acted swiftly to put down this legalization effort. It was confirmed this morning that the provision is being left out of the bill! This won't be the last time that the industry lobbies Congress to legalize marijuana. And we need your support so that we can continue our successful efforts to defeat legalization.
