HFSC drops NAFCU-opposed Overdraft Protection Act from markup ([link removed] )
The House Financial Services Committee pulled the NAFCU-opposed Overdraft Protection Act during its rescheduled markup Wednesday. NAFCU has long advocated against the bill, as it would significantly limit overdraft protection programs and the ability to assess nonsufficient fund fees (NSF).
CFPB announces review of credit card late fees collected by FIs ([link removed] )
The CFPB Wednesday announced an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) in an effort to sharply reduce the $12 billion in late credit card fees that financial institutions, including credit unions, collect each year.

NAFCU's Small Biz Lending Working Group hears from SBA staff on CU participation in lending programs ([link removed] )
The NAFCU Small Business Lending Working Group held its quarterly meeting Wednesday where member credit unions and NAFCU staff heard from Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Capital Access staff. Attendees reviewed the latest legislative and regulatory updates regarding small business lending.
NAFCU’s SIF Committee talks forecast, updates, more ([link removed] )
NAFCU’s Share Insurance Fund (SIF) Committee met Wednesday to discuss recent SIF updates. Of note, the NCUA Board was briefed on the SIF quarterly report during its May meeting, where agency staff noted that SIF assets totaled $20.6 billion, a decline of $132 million from the prior quarter, primarily due to unrealized losses in the investment portfolio. The six-month projection of the equity ratio is 1.25 percent for the period ending June 30, 2022.
