Friend, my name is Shannon Watts.
I was a stay-at-home mom when the Sandy Hook mass shooting unfolded on my television screen. As a mother, I was devastated and outraged – I refused to be complacent for another second. So, I founded Moms Demand Action which has since grown into the largest grassroots gun violence prevention movement with over eight million supporters.
We don’t just sit around and discuss gun violence – we take real action to stop gun violence by passing stronger gun laws, closing loopholes, fostering community engagement, and electing gun safety champions.
So, that’s why I’m emailing you today about the critical importance of electing Daniel Hernandez to Congress.
Can I count on you to join my mission to end gun violence by chipping in $3 to elect Daniel Hernandez, a true gun safety champion, to Congress? »
Recent mass shootings left me horror struck and full of despair. Would we as a nation ever end this scourge of gun violence?
But in the past few weeks, we’ve seen real progress – the Senate is taking steps on new and historic bipartisan gun safety legislation. But it’s not enough. We need steadfast leaders at every level of government who will keep fighting for the gun safety we need.
Leaders like Daniel Hernandez. Daniel is a survivor. He experienced firsthand the atrocities of mass gun violence. He was Gabby Giffords’ intern when she was tragically shot in a mass shooting in 2011. He was even credited with saving her life!
Now, Daniel’s running for Congress to save Gabby’s old seat from flipping red, into the hands of another pro-gun Republican. As a survivor, there’s no one better than Daniel Hernandez to lead our fight for gun safety in Congress.
