Tragedy has once again struck Afghanistan’s children.
Early Wednesday morning, a powerful earthquake destroyed more than 1,000 homes in Paktika and Khost provinces. The true scale of the devastation is not known, but it is believed that hundreds of people have been killed, including many women and children. Many more have been injured.
Heartbreakingly, these numbers are only expected to grow.
UNICEF medical and nutrition teams are already in Afghanistan distributing emergency supplies including cooking equipment, hygiene supplies, warm clothes, blankets, tents and tarpaulins — but the situation is worsening by the hour.
How we respond at this moment is a matter of life and death. We need your generosity to provide critical aid and help more children in urgent danger. Please there is still time to help the children of Afghanistan, but we must act quickly >> |
Conflict, recurrent natural disasters, chronic poverty and disease have already dominated the lives of Afghan people for decades. On top of so much hardship, how much more can they take?
Thank you for not waiting another moment,
