November 8th, 2022, is Election Day. It also happens to be my 65th birthday. Fate, perhaps?

It’s hard to believe, but Chuck Grassley was first-elected to the Iowa House of Representatives four days before my 1st birthday.

Yes, Chuck Grassley has had a 60+ year front row seat in crafting what we have in politics today – division, animosity, dark money, and special interests taking advantage of hard-working Americans.

What’s really been missing is leadership. For over 60 years, Grassley has taken a back row seat to leadership. In the controversial matters of the day, he is always silent, waiting for others, cowering behind Mitch McConnell’s talking points, carefully selecting his audiences, and appearing before the ‘usual suspects’ only.

The difference between my lifetime of service in the Navy and his is that leadership in my world was demanded and expected. No cowering was allowed.

I’m now running for Senate because after an eternity of Chuck Grassley in elected office, it’s time Iowans had someone actually representing them . That’s why you won’t find me taking corporate PAC money. That’s why you will see me taking on the big challenges to make Iowa and this nation a better place.

Control of the Senate is on the line here in Iowa, so Mitch McConnell and his Super PACs are coming after me with millions of dollars of false TV ads.
