Hello,

In a time where your existence is under attack, celebration is an act of resistance.

After years of progress, Republicans in states across the Nation have passed new laws to further restrict the rights of LGBTQ+ people, while others are attempting to erase their existence entirely.

I cannot know what it's like to live under constant threat of that kind of erasure, but I've witnessed friends and loved ones face that threat and still choose to come out. I admire their courage, but I also wish that it wasn't necessary. Everyone should have the right to live authentically and love whom they love.

So once again this month, I want to encourage you to celebrate pride with the LGBTQ+ people in your life and show care and compassion for yourselves.

I also want to ask you to take action. We stand at a critical moment where the rights that LGBTQ+ people have won in the courts could easily be erased. And today, too many still face the threat of being evicted or denied services for being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer.

It's time for federal legislation to end discrimination against LGBTQ+ Americans. If you agree, will you stand with me and demand action this Pride Month? » [link removed]

The House has already passed the Equality Act, but the Senate has not. I am proud to be a co-sponsor of this legislation, but I'll need your help to get it passed into law.

By showing your support for the Equality Act, you can help provide the momentum to ensure that LGBTQ+ Americans of all races no longer face the threat of losing their homes or being denied public accommodation because of their gender or whom they love.

Though we live in a challenging time, we cannot allow those who would erase LGBTQ+ people to win.

We must celebrate pride, and we must act. I look forward to debating, sponsoring, and passing more legislation to protect the civil rights of every American, and I'm glad to have you with me in this fight.

Thank you,

Bob Casey
